“D“ day

On a day when one of the greatest ancient philosopher, Socrates, was sentenced to death (February 15th), Ferdinand III became Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, on a day when Galileo Galilei and Lui XV, King of France, were born – Serbia is celebrating National Day and Constitution Day.

Serbia is celebrating National Day, whose founders were Serbian rebels. They went into battle for the final liberation from the Ottoman Empire under the leadership of Karadjordje 208 years ago. National Day of Serbia is celebrated on the big Christian holiday - Sretenje, because on that day, in year 1804th The First Serbian Uprising began, and on the same day in year 1835th the first Constitution of Serbian principality was approved.

This day should be one of the most important political, cultural and historical days in the calendar of Serbia. Serbia started to celebrate national holiday on Sretenje in year 2002nd. After 89 years, and after the separation of Montenegro in year 2006th for the first time Serbia is celebrating as an independent country!

After six years, there are so many Serbian people, who are "full of patriotism", so there is no more that feeling of pride and belonging to your nationality! Kids are celebrating snow, old people don't remember what exactly are they celebrating!

 

Recommendation for "D" day:

Remember your forefathers as they were. Celebrate, because no politicians, nor anyone else in the world can take you away what you have! Love yourself and everything around you! Be totally different from others, do not let the nonsense annoys you! Memorize! Be like those who are happy to remember the good history! Be the Serbs and Serbian citizens!
